Saturday was Aspen's 1 month birthday. Being the mother of the newborn (as many of you know) means that getting around to posting on the blog tends to take a little longer, but all in good time. We can't believe how fast the past month flew by. We've learned many lessons over the past month and we both have started to fall into parenthood with more ease everyday.
In the past couple of weeks Aspen has had many more outings with her parents. We learned to schedule activities out of the house around her feedings, although it doesn't always work out perfectly. She also has had more company and has been able to show her cute face off to more family and friends.
Aspen finally got to meet the rest of my side of the family, meeting her grandmother and her Uncle Matt. Although Uncle Matt has never held a baby before we both thought he was a natural (Aspen definitely liked the fact that he was willing to bounce her on his knee while Mom and Dad scarfed down their dinner). Her grandmother from my side has been spoiling her already, going on a little shopping adventure last week to the Children's Place (I highly recommend this store to anyone with kids. When they have a sale you can get some great deals and adorable clothes). Aspen also has had a couple visits from her Poppy. I'm pretty sure recognizing him as the guy who comes over and entertains me while I'm cranky--he's quite good at that. It's great to see Aspen with her extended family. She's looking forward to visiting her other side of the family next weekend for Jennifer's (Jason's sister) baby shower.

We had a full day on Saturday for Aspen's 1 month birthday. We started the day out driving down to Tacodeli for breakfast. This is one of our favorite breakfast taco places in Austin. Then we walked over to the Greenbelt and went on a little adventure. Bella had a great time running around off leash and getting a lot of attention from the other hikers. We used the "snuggler" (baby carrier) for the first time and Aspen loved it. She fell asleep almost as soon as Jason put her in it.
In the afternoon we met up with Aspen's grandmother, her Uncle Matt and his girlfriend Corry for lunch at Hoover's. Of course as soon as we got there Aspen was hungry, grumpy, and cold (it was freezing in the restaurant!). After getting her all settled in she slept right through the entire lunch.

That night Aspen attended her first party. Our friends Phil and Kaiba were having a birthday party and also announcing their engagement (congratulations!). I think for Aspen only being one month old she did a great job. Although she was a little fussy, that probably had to due to the fact that she didn't get a good afternoon nap in. She came home from the party totally wiped out and we moved her into her bed without even changing her out of her Longhorn dress.
I can't believe how big she is getting (she can already fit into some of her 3 month clothes) and how much she is changing. I can't wait to see her grow more and start to become more and more interactive. Check her out on the "Video of the Week" wiggling around while having some tummy time. Happy 1 month Birthday Baby Girl!
Also, Happy 26th Birthday Jason! Without you I don't know where all your girls would be :)

** Thanks for this idea Sarah :)

I'm glad I could give you the idea. :) I LOVE Aspen's tutu. It makes me want a little girl one of these days. I could never get away with dressing Cameron (or the next one) in a tutu. By the way, 3 month clothes are actually 0-3 months, so she is right on track. Cameron started wearing 3 month clothes around 1 month too.
Can't wait to see her! She is getting so big.
She is so cute. Aspen and Baby JAM are going to have so much playing together. It will be fun to have them so close in age and nearby.
