San Francisco Day 1

Jason and I spent four wonderful days in San Francisco this past weekend. It was the first time we were away from Aspen for more than an overnight. Although we missed her a lot, it was so nice to spend some time together alone. Jason's parents came into town and watched Aspen--thank you so much!

We took an early flight out on Thursday morning, so we arrived around 11am in S.F. Jason was trying to fight off a cold still and I was very over tired, so we decided to just take the day to walk around and see the surroundings. That's what I love above big cities--you can literally just start to walk and never know what you will find or see.

We headed out after a quick lunch and found ourselves near the water. There were a few small vendors out selling different lunch options (unfortunately we already ate because some of it looked delicious!), but apparently this is the location of one of the largest farmer's markets on the weekends.

There was a nice walkway right along the water that we were able to take. There was some really nice sights from the walk and we were able to figure out a couple of things we wanted to do the next day when we would have a little more energy. One of the things included wanting to walk up to the Coit Tower.

Jason really wanted to check out the sea lions, so we ended up walking all the way down to Fisherman's Wharf. This was definitely a huge tourist trap and not much of our scene. However, my sunglasses broke before we left for the trip, so I was able to pick up a pair for $5. There weren't nearly as many sea lions as we were expecting and I wasn't able to get a very good shot of them, but they were cute to see anyway!

After the long walk we took the bus back to our hotel. We decided to take a nap, which I wouldn't normally do on vacation, but we both needed it. When we woke up we were refreshed and ready to go out on the town again. That night we were meeting up with one of my childhood friends that lives near the city. Lilly's family and my family grew up going to the same lake in Maine in the summers. It was so great to catch up with her and hear about everything in her life. We spent so many summers together as kids--it's wonderful to still be in touch.

We had some delicious Indian food that night. Jason and I usually just get Indian food to go and always get the same thing every time. It was fun to try some different things and everything was so delicious! After dinner we took the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) back to the hotel. I have to say the whole time we were in S.F. we had a great experience with the public transportation--I wish we had a better system in Austin!

That's crazy, we were at those same spots a week ago. Was there a random dude at Fisherman's wharf that offered to take your picture for a tip?
