Spending Time Outdoors

We have been enjoying nice Austin weather the last week. Even though it rained a little bit this morning, it didn't stop us from getting outside. Aspen loves playing outdoors. She will stand at the backdoor pointing and saying "outside" (well that's what I think she is trying to say).

We went for a walk yesterday afternoon with the wagon. She insisted on getting out halfway through the walk and walking on her own. She would also stop periodically to put a couple of acorns in the wagon.

This morning we drove down to Town Lake/Zilker Park and walked over to the ducks. We had some leftover hamburger buns and we thought Aspen might enjoy it. She loved it--although the pigeons were more willing to eat the buns then the ducks.

"Here little pigeon..."

We swung by the playground and let Aspen run around a little more. We were going to take the train that goes all around the park because Aspen has getting into trains lately. Unfortunately the departure was delayed by a minimum of an hour because it was drizzling. I don't think it mattered because Aspen was enjoying the playground so much.

It was a great day. And even productive---started some spring cleaning: garage check!

18 months

So I know I'm a little late with this post, but it's been busy around our household and it's hard to find time to sit down to write a post with an active toddler. It's crazy to think Aspen is already 1 1/2 yrs old. Time flies when you're having fun and are busy!

Last year when Aspen was about 6 months old we had some snow flurries in Austin. This year we got a little more than flurries, so we got her all dressed up to play in the snow. She thought it was pretty interesting and her in Bella had fun running around the backyard.

We went to the Children's Museum last week and Aspen had a really good time with their new exhibit that involves everything "golf balls". It was cute watching her get so excited about dropping her ball and watching it swirl around and around. She has been using her language so much more everyday, which has been really helpful. Every time the ball came to the bottom all you heard out of her mouth was, "More, up!".

I took her to the doctor last week also. She weighs 23lbs. and I don't remember her height, but it was a little over average. She is starting to look a lot older to me lately. I'm not sure if it's the language or her hair growing out, but her face is starting to look more and more like a kid and not so much like a baby.

Some of her favorite words to say: more, up, cup, hi, bye, shoes, ball, eyes, ears, teeth, trash. She says a new word everyday lately--it's so fun!

Aspen has also started to eat really well--unless she is teething and then she doesn't want to eat anything. Some of her favorite foods are: asparagus, beans, chicken, grilled cheese, avacado, and pretty much any type of fruit.

Jason's parents were in town watching his sister's daughter for the weekend. They came over and played on Saturday and we had a bbq. Aspen enjoyed showing Jessica the chickens. It doesn't look like Jessica is interested in this picture, but it was hard to tear these girls away from the coop and garden for dinner.

They really enjoyed going in and out of the garden. It must have had something to do with the door we have on it. It became a little game between the two of them. It's nice to see them playing together as they get older.

I know Nanny enjoyed having these two ladies on her arms!

Sooner than later my little lady will be turning 2, but until then I'll just try to keep up with everything she is doing!

First Stab at Producing

I have been working so hard the past few months with the help from many people to create "No Assurance". This dance show consists of 9 different works by different artist. The show is this Friday and Saturday at the Blue Theatre in Austin, TX at 8pm. Please come out and enjoy an evening (even if the weather is frigid!) and suuport your dance community.
