Catching Up
I know it's been quite awhile since I've updated this bad boy. I was talking to Jason tonight about how it was so easy to keep up with posts when Aspen was a baby because she didn't really do much and I spent my days just admiring her and taking her picture over and over. Well, trying to get my almost 3 year old to even sit still for a picture is a challenge these days! Here are some pictures from some fun activities we've done over the course of the last 3 months.
April 16, 2012- Trip to Sweet Berry Farms. This was our second year to go to the farms to pick strawberries. It is so much fun for the kids!
April 20,2012--We went camping! It was our first trip with Aspen and it was so much fun. We would have tried to squeeze in another trip before the heat, but May was a busy month and it didn't happen. However, we will definitely be doing this again in the fall once it cools off. Jason is an amazing camper! Usually when we go on a trip the responsiblity of getting packed, organized, and setting plans falls on me. Not this time--I came home from work on Thursday night and everything thing was packed and ready to go for the next day. I could definitiely get use to more vacations like this!
May 2012- On the last day of Aspen's dance class they invited the parents into the studio to watch the kids. I love watching Aspen dance and she has a great time. She is still taking class throughout the summer and this fall will be in a ballet/tap class--bring on the tap shoes!!
June 2, 2012- 5 day beach trip to Galveston with our friends the Livingston's. This was such an awesome trip. My friend Shelli and I met at Brentwood Park right around our girl's 1st birthdays. Our girls play like sisters (the good and the bad), and Eliza's younger sister Sarah hangs tough with the two of them. This was the first trip Jason and I have ever taken with friends with all of our kids. I hope to have many more trips in the future, there were so many great memories made (even the overly competitive behavior during Spades had its highlights)!
We have lots of travel plans over the next couple of months--Dzubinski family vacation, Aspen's Grandma (my mom) is coming to visit--as many of you know Grandma doesn't get to see Aspen alot so this is very exciting! Jason and I are going to Eastern Europe (Budapest, Bratislava, and Vienna), and a trip to Colorado with Aspen's Nanny and Papa.
Hopefully I'll find some time to keep up :) Eventually I get around to it...

Of course Amy had to come for her first camping trip too. |
Woke up and Dad made breakfast tacos and coffee--all the surrounding campers looked pretty jealous ;) |

We had to bike ride--Aspen loved this, which was a bonus! |

Shelli and I picked up sewing around the same time. We picked out this fabric and pattern together and made the girls matching dresses--of course I couldn't get a good picture! |

Birthdays and Egg Hunts
We had a busy weekend, but it was filled with lots of fun--and I'd rather be busy than bored! We started our weekend out traveling to Keller, TX to visit Jason's sister's family. Our nephew, Cameron, turned 4 earlier in the week and we drove up for his birthday party on Saturday. I didn't take any pictures on Friday, but our evening was spent eating a great dinner and watching the kids have a water gun fight (of course Jason was part of the water gun fight ;) ).
Saturday morning Cameron had a t-ball game that we all attended. The game was really entertaining to watch and Cameron did a great job. Aspen really enjoyed the game from Nanny's lap while having a snack. Maybe I'll have to look into bringing her to a Round Rock Express game this season.
After the game we headed back to the house for lunch and to get everyone ready for the birthday party. I was SO excited that Aunt Sarah braided Aspen's hair. It took a little encouraging but she got it done and I loved how it made Aspen look like such a big girl. I need to start practicing! I told Jason I never had a sister or a softball team (Sarah's claim of why she was so good at braiding), but I can rock out a ballet bun like no ones business.
Cameron's birthday party was really fun, Aspen had a great time with her cousins and even though she didn't sleep the whole drive home like maybe we wanted, she sure was wiped out that night.
On Sunday our neighborhood had an Easter Egg Hunt. This is really the first neighborhood activity/event we have been to, so we didn't know what to expect. The hood did not let us down, even the Easter Bunny made an apperance and Aspen had an awesome time 'hunting' for eggs. The only complaint was it was held right at nap time, but a little change in schedule for a great time was worth it!

Aspen got to play on the bases after the game--might look into putting her into t-ball next year ;) |

She may look scared, but she wouldn't stop talking about the Easter Bunny yesterday and especially about the fact that he was "soooo big!!" |

Bluebonnets
We had to take advantage of the wonderful bluebonnets this spring. We took all these pictures just right down the street from our house. I love Austin at this time of year!

San Antonio Zoo
We took Aspen to the San Antonio Zoo a little over a week ago. It was a beautiful day, not to hot or cold and the zoo was not crowded at all-score! For not a very long ride I will definitely bring Aspen back, she was so excited and well behaved the whole time. I took some pictures to remember our awesome family day.
She was really excited to see all the animals when we first walked in. Jason wrangled her on his shoulders until we figure out where we were going. |
I forgot to bring our stroller, but was happy to find out they rented these strollers out. Next time I'll need to remember to bring ours, at least to carry our lunch :) |
Posing with the snake. |
Posing with the croc--at the same time talking about his big pointy teeth. |
A favorite animal for all of us--Aspen called him the giraffe zebra. |
Family picture post lunch. |
This bird spooked Jason when he landed on his shoulder. Aspen thought it was hilarious, "Silly bird!" |
Giving the lions a hug and kiss goodbye at the end of our day. |
One last ride! |

Some pictures of Aspen
On Sunday we went for a hike and finished planting the tree we got for Baby Holden. I haven't posted here in so long and when I'm old and I'm looking back it will be nice to remember what my sweet girl looked like at this age :)
Waiting for Dad to come home from work on Friday...
Working hard in the yard to get the hole dug out for the tree...
Came across the most domesticated duck ever...someone definitely use to have this guy as a pet. We had some old hamburger buns to feed this guy.
Showing us her flower she found.
She loves to go hiking now and pretty much will run for almost 30 minutes straight before finally asking to go in the pack. She loves to be outside just like her Mom and Dad.
